About Taipei

Taipei is the capital and the political, commercial, cultural and fashion center of Taiwan (Chinese Taipei). It is also a city which never sleeps. The city nightlife is as lively, if not more lively, compared to the daytime. In Taipei, 24-hour bookstores, restaurants, cinemas, karaoke parlours, and other places of cultural or leisure entertainment provide visitors with a dynamic urban living experience, including hip-hop dancers practicing outside Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall to traditional music bands performing inside the Hall. It is obvious that Taipei city is keeping up with the pace of the world, and its surrounding areas have formed a dynamic entity which is actively transforming. However, the different cultural offerings, including exhibitions held at the National Palace Museum or the Museum of Contemporary Art in Taipei, 24-hour Eslite bookstores, boisterous night markets and lounge bars are what attract visitors the most to Taipei.
