Taiwan Design Alliance

Taipei being selected as the venue for the 2011 IDA Congress prompted the establishment of the Taiwan Design Alliance (TDA), a non-profit organisation, in August, 2008. TDA intends to actively engage Taiwanese design in a global context, making its voice heard in the international design community. TDA comprises members from seven major design organisations and associations ranging from industrial design, interior design, graphic design and design promotion in Taiwan, including: China Industrial Designers Association (CIDA, Taiwan), Chinese Society of Interior Designers (CSID), Graphic Design Association of the Republic of China (GDA), Taiwan Graphic Design Association (TGDA), Taiwan Poster Design Association (TPDA), Kaohsiung Creators Association (KCA), and Taiwan Design Center (TDC).

The establishment of TDA will help pool the resources of Taiwan design associations and organisations, and oversee Taiwan’s cultural and design policies as a force in the private sector.

China Industrial Designers Association (CIDA)

Established in 1967, the China Industrial Designers Association (Taiwan) is accredited as a professional member of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid).
CIDA is highly recognised as a powerful platform for acquiring resources, finding talent and networking. CIDA continues to inspire designers to not only create good ideas and produce superior products, but also, more importantly, pursue the true value of design - to enhance the life quality of all people.

Chinese Society of Interior Designers (CSID)

Established in 1979, the Chinese Society of Interior Designers (CSID) has significantly influenced and contributed to the field of interior design in Taiwan. CSID hosts the annual TID (Taiwan Interior Design) Award, the highest recognition for interior designers in Taiwan, and the TID Award is now recognised as the most influential award in the greater China areas.

The Graphic Design Association of the Republic of China (GDA-ROC)

Established in 1962, the Graphic Design Association of the Republic of China (GDA-ROC) has the longest history among the associations of its kind in Taiwan. The goal of GDA-ROC is to integrate graphic designers to promote creativity and technique, and ultimately to enhance the quality of the design industry. GDA-ROC has organised many large-scale exhibitions, contests, as well as other numerous events, and produces various publications.

Taiwan Graphic Design Association (TGDA)

Established in 1994, a group of Taiwanese designers became aware of the importance of the cohesion and improvement in overall quality of their works as a collective body in the domestic design industry, whereupon TGDA gathered members from the elite and experts in the domestic fields of graphic design, packaging and CI design, with the intention of promoting Taiwan to become an influential member in international design circles.

Taiwan Poster Design Association (TPDA)

Established in 1991, the Taiwan Poster Design Association (TPDA) now has close to 100 members, and aims at developing the traditional design culture, creating design value and promoting international design exchange. In the future, TPDA will move forward as a more professional and international association to co-build a better environment for graphic designers in the greater China areas and bring their talent into full play.

Kaohsiung Creators Association (KCA)

Established in 1991, the Kaohsiung Creators Association (KCA) actively engages in promoting design exchanges and building good and interactive relations with local governments, as well as domestic and overseas design-related organisations. KCA now has around 100 professional members mainly engaged in commercial ad design, but its members are also active in other professional fields, such as sales and marketing planning, environmental signage, artistic creation and professional photography.

China Productivity Center (CPC)

Established in 1955, the China Productivity Center (CPC) was organised by fifty public and private commercial and industrial businesses. CPC has combined innovative concept elements and its own ample business management force to integrate marketing modules and mechanisms with consultation to help Taiwan's creative industry to grow, connect innovative products to the market, promote marketing and to substantiate new business opportunities and profitable operations.

Taiwan Design Center (TDC)

Established in 2004, the forerunner of the Taiwan Design Center (TDC) was the Design Promotion Center (DPC) under the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA). TDC is now an independent national design center providing complete design services. By encouraging the spirit of innovation and design, TDC not only helps advance industrial transformation, but also heightens aesthetic appreciation for every individual.
